Donald W. Hutchinson

GROVETON, NH- Donald W. Hutchinson, 78, died peacefully at his home Saturday morning January 28, 2023, after a period of failing health.
Don was born in Lancaster on March 3, 1944, the son of Warren and Blanche (Carter) Hutchinson.
Donald resided most of his lifetime in the North Country, including Lancaster, Whitefield, and for the past 42 years, in Groveton.
Don was an Army Veteran. He served in Korea as an MP for one and a half years. Not long after returning, he married Evelyn Thompson. Together they had one child, Samantha.
Don was a longtime blaster for Thomas Drilling and Blasting, where he blasted away rock for many highways, cellars, resorts, quarries, and other projects all over Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. If you took a ride with him, he would point out every job to you.
Some of Don’s favorite hobbies included snowmobiling, horse pulling, visiting with friends and family, and of course fishing. His grandchildren, especially his great-grandchildren, meant the world to him.
He is survived by his daughter, Samantha (Jeffrey) McMann; one sister, Trudy Leclere; a sister-in-law, Catherine Bishop; brothers-in-law, Tommy Gonyer, Dave Goulet, and Mike Mills; grandchildren Kailene Jones and Kole McMann; great-grandchildren Alyvia, Warryn, and Walker, several nieces and nephews, many cousins. He is also survived by his long-time companion Anne Emerson.
Donald was predeceased by, his wife of 39 years, Evelyn Hutchinson in 2006; both his parents, Warren and Blanche Hutchinson; his brother, Richard Hutchinson; his sisters, Sandra Gonyer, Anne Goulet, and Ruth Mills; and beloved Grandson, Evan Laundry in October 2022.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, February 4th from 4:00–7:00PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, May 13th at 1:00 PM in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster. Life Cycle Celebrant, Deborah Szauter, will officiate.
