LANCASTER - Dorothy Alden Carr, 97, of North Road, died suddenly at her home Thursday, June 7, 2012.
Mrs. Carr was born in Lancaster on March 5, 1915, the daughter of William B. and Sarah (Gallagher) Alden.
"Dot" was a homemaker who devoted her life to her family. She was a very active member of St. Paul's Church, Lancaster, where she served as secretary and treasurer for 30 years.
Family members include her son James Carr and his wife Susie of Florida; her daughter Rebecca Carr of Wakefield, MA; a sister Virginia M. Alden of Lebanon, NH; 2 grandchildren, Michael Carr and Sarah Carr of Connecticut; 3 step-granddaughters, Kirsten Weaver, Karin Lund and Lyndsie Aynes all of Seattle; 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Randall C. Carr, and three brothers and four sisters.
Visiting hours will be held Monday evening June 11, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 at St. Paul's Church. Rev. David Taylor, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
