LANCASTER, NH - Douglas J. Copson, 64, passed away at his home on July 8th, 2018. Doug was born in Concord, NH on September 22, 1953, to Richard and Muriel (Shute) Copson. He graduated Concord High School in 1971 and Plymouth State College in 1976. Douglas has lived in Lancaster since 1977 where he built his own house and business on family land. Doug was self-employed for over 40 years as a logger, builder, and sawmill operator.
Doug was an independent and free-spirited person who lived life on his terms. He enjoyed telling stories with friends, spending time in Maine where he built a camp on Flagstaff Lake, hunting, fishing and working on his projects. He was a self-described historian who loved nature and his Constitutional Rights.
Doug is survived by his brother David Copson and his family of Washington, and his sister Majorie Therrien and her husband Michael of Loudon, NH. Doug is also survived by his three children, Amber Lemien of Belmont, NH, Dan Copson of Lancaster, NH and Amelia Martinez of Woodland, California. He has five grandchildren, Caleb and Courtney Burke, Lucas Lemien, Gillian Copson and Gavin Martinez.
Calling hours will be on July 20th, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster, NH. The family will hold a private ceremony on Doug's beloved family property in Lancaster. There will also be an interment in Concord, NH at Blossom Hill Cemetery on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 2 p.m.
