LANCASTER - E. Irene Murphy, 96, died Wednesday morning February 27, 2013 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Murphy was born in Sheffield, VT, on March 16, 1916 the daughter of William and Mary (Welch) Berwick.
For many years Irene worked as a nurse's aid at Weeks Medical Center. She was an active member of the Christ United Methodist Church and belonged to the United Methodist Women. She was a long time resident of the McKee Inn and member of the Colonel Town Senior Citizens.
Surviving family members include her sister Edith Switser of Dalton and many nieces and nephews along with many great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband Norman Maker; second husband Leo Ingerson; third husband George Murphy; three brothers and a sister.
Visiting hours will be held at the Bailey Funeral Home Sunday afternoon, March 3, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. A funeral service will follow there at 3:00 PM. Reverend Ron Bruce, pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in Forest Vale Cemetery, Jefferson.
