LANCASTER, NH- Earl L. Cutting, 92, died Monday evening, May 17, 2010, at Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster.
Mr. Cutting was born in Concord, NH, on October 25, 1917, the son of Carl L. and Stella (Bean) Cutting. He was a 1935 graduate of Simonds High School, Warner, NH. During WWII he served with the US Army in England and France.
For 43 years he worked for H.P. Hood and was a regional sales manager in Portland, ME, from 1963 to 1978. During his retirement years in Portland he worked for Hertz Car Rental and several courier services. For many years he was a holiday delivery man for Riff's Flower Shop, Lancaster, NH. He has resided in Lancaster for the past 4 years.
Mr. Cutting was a member of the Central Square Baptist Church, Portland, ME, serving as deacon for many years. During his time in Lancaster he has been an active member of the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ.
He was a 32 Degree Mason and member of the Harris Lodge #51 where he also served as past master. Other Masonic memberships include the Deering Lodge #59, the Scottish Rite, and the Kora Shrine and Chanters.
Other memberships include the Portland Rotary Club and the American Legion. Earl sang for many organizations and also weddings. He enjoyed carpentry and handyman work.
Family members include his wife of 69 years Barbara Y. (Young) Cutting of Lancaster, NH; a son C. Wayne Cutting and wife Sydnie M. Smith of Kennebunk, ME; a daughter Linda C. Hutchins and husband Dave of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Greg Hutchins and companion Billie Andersen, Stacey and Steve Desrosiers, Lisa and Dereck Courhaine, Lori and Phil Alexander, James and Marie Companion; 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening, May 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 210 Main Street, Lancaster, NH. A funeral service will be held Friday morning at 11:00 at the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ. Rev. Virginia Alvarez, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Warner, NH, at 4:00 PM.
