LANCASTER - Edward L. Driscoll, 84, died of a sudden illness Tuesday morning, April 17, 2018, at his home on Wolcott Street.
Mr. Driscoll was born in Lawrence, MA, on May 26, 1933, the son of Frank W. and Sadie (Donovan) Driscoll. He was a longtime Lancaster resident graduating from Lancaster Academy in 1952. For over 30 years Ed worked as a pressman for the Stinehour Press in Lunenburg.
During the Korean Conflict Ed served with the US Navy aboard the USS Arnab. His ship patrolled the South Pole and once held a record for an around the world voyage. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a member of the John W. Weeks Post 3041 of Lancaster, the Loyal Order of the Cooties, and the American Legion Post 17 in Groveton.
Surviving family members include four children, Mark Driscoll and his wife Donna of Littleton, Edward Driscoll of Dalton, Heidi Driscoll of Lancaster, Shannon Driscoll-MacKillop and husband Michael of Whitefield; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Carolyn L. (Cassidy) Driscoll; a son Teddy Driscoll; a granddaughter Randi Wolfe Driscoll; and siblings Dot Driscoll, Robert Driscoll, Margie McCormack, and Bill Driscoll.
Visiting hours will be held Friday evening, April 20, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 11:00 AM at All Saints Church in Lancaster. Reverend Matthew Mason, pastor, will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in the Johns River Cemetery, Dalton.
