LANCASTER - Edward W. MacKillop Sr., 79, died peacefully Monday afternoon, October 10, 2016 at the family farm on North Road. His sister Cheryl was at his side.
Mr. MacKillop was born in Lancaster on September 21, 1937, the son of Edward A. and Marguerite (Kennett) MacKillop. He served as an MP with the US Army in the mid 50's and was married to the late Linda Mae Hinkley.
Edward was a former police officer and served for the towns of Lancaster and Whitefield. For many years he was employed as a foreman for NH Public Service. In the mid 70's he moved to Florida and was employed as a consultant for a time with Florida Power and Light. He was a longtime resident of Hollywood, FL. His hobbies included bingo, golf, hunting, alpine skiing, and casino gambling. One of Ed's highlights of his many golf tournaments was when he had the opportunity to partner with Fred Couples in a Florida Power and Light Tournament. He returned home in August to be cared for by his sister Cheryl.
Surviving family members include his two children Edward W. MacKillop Jr. of Lancaster, Teresa Porter and her husband Douglas of Nokomis, Florida; 3 grandchildren, Joshua and Emily Porter of Nokomis, FL, Maci MacKillop of Whitefield; five brothers, James MacKillop and wife Susan, John MacKillop and wife Sandra, Michael MacKillop and wife Jade, Tim MacKillop and Richard MacKillop all of Lancaster; sisters Linda Hopps of Groveton, Cheryl MacKillop of Lancaster, Patricia Kipp of Tilton, Judith Paschal and husband Wayne of Berlin, Joyce Bean of Lancaster, Debra MacKillop of Stark and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and Linda; a son Kenneth MacKillop; two brothers, Robert MacKillop and Ronald MacKillop Sr. and a sister Peggy Brown.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Saturday morning, June 24th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A graveside service and military honors will follow in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster
