Edward J. Samson Sr.

LANCASTER - Edward J. Samson Sr., 75, died Wednesday September 10, 2014 at St. Johnsbury Health and Rehab.
Mr. Samson was born in Jefferson, NH on November 12, 1938 the son of Philip J. and Lucille (Clevette) Samson.
Surviving family members include four children, Deborah A. Huntington of Lancaster, Edward J. Samson Jr. of Lancaster, Cindy L. Bennett of Lancaster, Tina M. Samson of Lancaster; a brother Paul Samson of Lancaster; a sister Helen A. Coulter of Jefferson; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Corrine (Gonyer) Samson in 1995; a son James Samson and an infant son Phillip.
Ed was raised in Jefferson on the family dairy farm. He went on to work for 25 years in the road construction business and was employed with R.S. Audley and later Cook & Ross construction companies. He then he purchased the Elms Hotel Restaurant & Lounge in Lancaster which he owned and operated for 25 years. In the more recent years he resided in Bloomfield, VT where he enjoyed raising Scottish Highlander cattle.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday morning September 13 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 AM in Calvary Cemetery, Lancaster. Reverend Matthew Mason, pastor of the Gate of Heaven Parish, will officiate.
Donations may be made in his memory to a charity of one's choice.
