LUNENBURG, VT – Edward D. Shufelt Sr., 82, of Walker Pit Road, died suddenly at his home Wednesday, June 26, 2024, after a time of failing health.
Mr. Shufelt was born in Littleton, NH on March 27, 1942, the son of George E. and Anna (Choate) Shufelt.
Ed served his country for 9 years as a Staff Sargent in the US Army and for a time was stationed in Germany. He worked various jobs throughout the North Country and for many years was a truck driver of James River Corporation. He was a devoted Freemason and member of the Gilkey Masonic Lodge #101in Groveton where he served as past master.
For many years Ed was known for his prowess as a race car driver. He raced on many tracks locally and throughout New England where he was known by fellow drivers and fans as “Fast Ed”. He also loved his Harley Davidson motorcycles. He was a longtime member of the Littleton Harley Davidson Club. When not riding or racing, Ed enjoyed rving and camping.
Family members include his wife Marilyn (McBey) Shufelt of Lunenburg; his children Lola Shufelt of Lunenburg, George E. Shufelt of Bellingham, WA, Edward D. Shufelt of Littleton, NH, Brad Lapan of Cabot, VT; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his siblings, David A. Shufelt of Groveton, Helen Derosia of Lisbon, NH, Harry C. Shufelt of Loudon, NH; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Friday, July 12, from 4:00 – 7:00PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Military honors will be held at 5:00PM and a Masonic service will be held at 6:00PM.
