Elaine D. Horsler

LUNENBURG, VT- Elaine D. Horsler, 61, died at her home, with her family by her side on Friday morning July 29, 2011, after a long courageous battle

with cancer.

Mrs. Horsler was born in Lyndon Center, Vermont on February 17, 1950, a daughter of Harley L. and Emma (Robinson) Drown.

She lived in Lunenburg, VT most of her life raising her family. She spent most of her childhood in Gilman, VT, where her family operated a farm.

She graduated from Concord High School in 1968 and in 1969 she became a LPN graduating from Hartford Hospital. She returned to college, attending BerlinVo-Tech and in 1986 she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. She worked for Weeks Memorial Hospital in Lancaster for over 30 years, retiring due to

her health.

Elaine enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, cooking and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens; she also enjoyed hiking, camping and snow-shoeing. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren & family (and all her kitty cat babies).

She was a former Girl Scout and 4-H Leader, Sunday School Teacher and volunteer at the Morrison Nursing Home.

Family members include her husband of 41 years Owen L. Horsler of Lunenburg,three daughter Suzanne Mitton and her husband Michael of Lunenburg, Roseanne Horsier of Lunenburg and Aimee Horsler also of Lunenburg, two grandchildren Holly and Krysta Mitton, a brother Charles Drown and his wife Jennifer of Kentucky, a brother and sister in-law Robert and Clara Horsler, brother in-law Gary Horsler, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins She was predeceased by, her parents, a brother Timothy F. Drown and an infant sister Christine.

At Elaine's request there are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Saturday August 6, at 10 AM at the Christ United Methodist Church in Lancaster. Reverend Ron Bruce, pastor, will co-officiate with Rev. Gerry Piper of Springfield, VT.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Riverside Rescue in Gilman, VT.
