Elaine M. Leclere

September 13, 1930 — May 22, 2012

GROVETON - Elaine M. LeClere, 81, died peacefully Tuesday, May 22, 2012, with her daughter and granddaughter by her side, at Country Village Genesis Healthcare, Lancaster, after a long battle with COPD.

She was born in Lancaster on September 13, 1930, the daughter of Ernest and Agnes (Barrows) Atherton.

Elaine is survived by her only daughter Cathy Collins and a woman she always thought of as her daughter Betty Reed.  She had two step-daughters, Caryn Whitney and Cheri Hammond; two grandchildren, Elaina Smith and Sharnna Howland; five great-grandchildren, Andrew Howland IV, Madison Howland, Tiesha Fontaine, Eric Hartlen and Brian Hartlen (deceased); and three great-great-grandchildren.  She was also predeceased by her husband Raymond LeClere.

She was a loving mother and grandmother and friend.  She had a love for life and enjoyed going out for her tea in the evening with friends, going for rides and just being on the go.  There wasn't a single day that she didn't have a smile on her face even on her worst of days.  She was a wonderful woman who will be missed dearly by all that were lucky enough to know her.

At Elaine's request there are no visiting hours.  A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 2, at 1:00 PM in the Northumberland Cemetery.  Rev. Aaron Cox, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Groveton, will officiate.

Donations may be made in her memory to the  American Cancer Society, NH Division, Inc., Gail Singer Memorial Building, 360 Route 101 Unit 501, Bedford, New Hampshire 03102-6800.

"The day that you stopped breathing

The Lord took you by the hand.

He said Elaine come with me

Walk barefoot in the sand,

I took away your sickness,

You have been through enough.

It's time for you to come with me

These last few days have been rough.

Don't worry about those who loved you,

They will understand.

It's time for me to guide you

To your promise land".
