Elaine C Russell

Elaine Colby Russell passed away on Thursday afternoon July 18, 2024 at Morrison Nursing Home. Elaine was born to Freeman Colby Sr. and Ellen Ramsey Colby on August 24, 1928. She graduated from Colebrook Academy in Colebrook NH in 1946 and then Wilfred Academy of Cosmetology in Boston MA. She got her first job hairdressing in Whitefield NH in the late 40's where she met her husband to be Kenneth L. Russell Sr., while dancing at Newell’s Casino. They married in 1950 and were married for over 70 years until his death in 2021. Through the years Elaine owned her own beauty salon in Whitefield NH., managed the office of the family business Kenneth L. Russell Plumbing and Heating and was a clerk at Frank's clothing store in Whitefield NH and Sullivan Drug Store in Lancaster NH.

Elaine was also predeceased by two of her sons Mark Colby Russell and Eric Ramsey Russell and her brothers Freeman Colby Jr. and Stephen Colby.

She is survived by her sons Kenneth L. Russell Jr, his wife Margaret O'Donnell of Portsmouth NH., Richard M. Russell, his wife Suzanne of Lancaster, NH and Stephen E. Russell, his wife Diane Nelson of St. Johnsbury, VT., 5 grandchildren, Ian Russell, Keira Russell O'Brien, Angela Russell Field, Amy Russell and Mark Russell and 5 great grandchildren, Grace Field, Rory O'Brien, Aidan O'Brien, Haley La Chance and Keegan Swizewski and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral and celebration of life will be held August 3rd, 2024 at 11am at the Community Baptist Church, 27 Jefferson Rd,, Whitefield NH.

Elaine's family would like to thank the staff of Sartwell Place and the Morrison Nursing Home for the professional and compassionate care they gave Elaine during the last years of her life.
