GROVETON - Eleanor L. Glidden, 73, of Brown Road, died Wednesday afternoon, December 19, 2018, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, after stricken with a sudden illness.
Mrs. Glidden was born in Lebanon, NH, on March 5, 1945, the daughter of Elias Hopps Sr. and Beatrice V. (Hill) Hopps. She was a lifelong resident of Groveton who will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grandma and sister. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her granddaughter who she would go on many bike rides with. She also enjoyed sewing and being outdoors, walking in the woods or camping. Music brought her great enjoyment and she would listen to records and loved singing.
Eleanor will be missed by the many people who knew her. If anyone was in need of help she would be there. She had a lot of energy and seldom sat still. Family members believed she had too much energy and often wished they had half of what she did. She will be remembered as an amazing person who was warm, caring, loveable, helpful, generous and always looked so nice.
She was a lifetime member of the Lancaster Assembly of God.
Surviving family members include her husband of 57 years, William F. Glidden of Groveton; two daughters, Stacey Hodge of Groveton, Twila Glidden-Hawley of Gilford, CT; her mother Beatrice of Whitefield; her granddaughter Martha of Groveton; 7 siblings, Shirley Forbush of Campton, Lucille Cameron of Jefferson, Joyce Reynolds of Groveton, Elsie Dresser of Delton, FL, Elias Hopps Jr of Lancaster, Harold Dean Hopps of Groveton , Meredith Hopps of Berlin and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Friday evening, December 28th, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM, at the Lancaster Assembly of God. Reverend Seth Frink, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Spring in Northumberland Cemetery.
