June 12, 1941 – Jan. 12, 2024 Elke Emmons, 82, died unexpectedly at her home in Lancaster, N.H., on Jan. 12, 2024.
She was born June 12, 1941, in Frankfurt, Germany to Beno and Lydia Weismuller. In 1947, her widowed mother married Richard C Albee who adopted her, and brought his family home to St Johnsbury. She attended St. Johnsbury schools and graduated from St Johnsbury Academy with the class of 1960.
In 1961, she married Richard Emmons and they had two children, Steven and Kellie. They moved many times over the U.S. following Dick’s work in the radio/ aeronautics field. In each place, Elke remodeled and decorated just to repeat the process when they moved again. She became quite adept at paint, wallpaper, drywall and other home repairs as well as gardening.
Elke was a talented artist from an early age and continued to paint her whole life. Anyone familiar with her works would recognize one immediately. She would gift paintings but never sell one, stating it would be like selling one of her children.
She was predeceased by her mother Lydia in 1975, her father Richard in 2014 and her husband, Richard, also in 2014. Her brother-in-law David Coburn predeceased her in 2017, her son-in-law Steven Boccadoro in 2019 and her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Emmons in 2023.
Elke is survived by her children Steven Emmons of Bedford, Texas, and Kellie Boccadoro of Las Vegas, Nev., her grandchildren, Julian, Valan, and Landon Boccadoro and Devan and Jordyn Emmons. She is also survived by a sister, Patricia H Coburn of St. Johnsbury, Vt., and Sarasota, Fla.
At Elke’s request, there will be no services. Since she was a staunch supporter of animal rights, contributions in her memory can be made to SAD-SAC, c/o Caledonian Record, PO Box 8, St. Johnsbury, VT 05819.
