OBITUARY

LANCASTER, NH - Elwin A. Wright, Sr, 95, died peacefully at Country Village Center, Saturday September 22, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 25, 1922 in Waterford, VT the son of Alfred and Mable (Cutting) Wright and attended local schools there. After his marriage to Mildred Magoon in 1942 in Berlin, NH he then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII. After his discharge in 1946 the couple moved to Dalton, NH where Elwin was employed by the Gilman Paper Mill for over twenty years. In the mid 1960's he and Mildred moved to Whitefield, NH, where they owned and operated the Hill Top Snack Bar and Trailer Park. Additionally, he worked as a hotel superintendent at the Mountain View Grand Hotel and as a self employed carpenter.

Elwin enjoyed the great outdoors and was and advent hunter. One of his biggest accomplishments was hunting bobcats with his black and tan hounds. Elwin was a well know cat hunter throughout the Great North Woods.

Survivors include two sons, Elwin Wright Jr. of Whitefield, Stanley Wright and his wife, Bonnie of Whitefield and a daughter Eleanor Lawrence and her husband Wayne, of Barre, VT. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his 12 brothers and sisters he was predeceased by his wife Mildred in 2001.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 29 2018 at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster, NH burial with military honors will follow at the Pine Street Cemetery in Whitefield. Reverend Timothy Brooks, pastor of St. Paul's Church, Lancaster, will officiate. Friends and family may call Friday night from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.
