Obituary

Eric (Rick) John Woodward, 66 of Groveton NH, passed away unexpectedly on October 15, 2026. He was born in Lancaster, NH on October 21, 1959, to David and Romona (Gonyer) Woodward. Rick attended Groveton High School and graduated in 1977, where he was a member of the Drama Club, Band and Weightlifting. Following graduation he worked for his father at the S&W Market as a Meat Cutter and later took over ownership. His meat cutting inspired Moonlight Meats, where he would cut meat from his home for over 20 years and would become The Legendary Meat Cutter from the North Country. Rick was also a financial advisor, and, for the past 20 years worked as a Sales Representative at Dalton Mountain Motor Sports. He was also a Hunter’s Safety Instructor for many years, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus.

On April 25, 1981, Rick married his wife lovely wife, Teri Ryan, they had three beautiful daughters and were known as the “three flavored ice cream family.” Rick and Teri would often be seen with Rick’s younger brother, Alan, and often thought of him as one of their own.

If not in the meat room, Rick could be found playing cards on Family Poker Night with his parents, sister, brothers, nieces and nephew. He enjoyed spending time in Nash Stream hunting and fishing with friends and family, as well as spending time at Maidstone lake, fishing, boating, water skiing and enjoying time with his family. He also enjoyed golfing, downhill skiing, and all outdoor activities. Rick didn't know any strangers, as soon as he met someone he considered them friends. Most importantly, Rick loved his family and his family was everything to him.

Rick was not only known for his legendary meat cutting skills but his storytelling skills were by far the best. Everyone who came across Rick had the pleasure of a joke or story and would walk away laughing.

Rick is predeceased by his parents, his brother Corey Woodward in 2006, his sister Debbie Montgomery in 2021, and his “brother” Lloyd Tippits in 2026.

Rick is survived by his wife Teri, brother Alan and wife Becky of Berlin, sister-in-law Jana Marshall and husband Richard of Groveton, three daughters Haley St. Cyr and husband Corey of Dalton, Ashley Clauss and husband Jared of Groveton, and Allison Hall and husband Rob of Groveton, along with seven grandchildren – Kyra, Nick, Aubrie, Ian, Taylor, Lia, and Ryan.
