Ernest F. "Ernie" Angelicola

TILTON - Born in Paterson, NJ, Ernie was an avid reader from youth. He worked at Wrights Aeronautical where he met his wife, Patricia Maynard. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps during World War II and served as a bombardier in the African and Italian Campaigns. He retired from active service as a 1st Lieutenant and later as a captain in the Army Reserve.

Ernie worked in several engineering positions in the New York corporate world before retiring and moving to Jefferson, NH in 1986. He served on the Jefferson Planning Board and as Chairman of the White Mountains Regional School Board. He and assistant school superintendent, Richard Juve, were instrumental in establishing the ROTC program within the regional school system. He served on the Weeks Medical Center Board and later in his 90's as a hospital volunteer. He was volunteer for Meals on Wheels and The Caleb Group and a member of the Jefferson Adult Citizens and Odd Fellows Society. He enjoyed teaching chess to students and computer skills to senior adults, reading, golf and advanced crossword and logic puzzles.

He was married to his dear wife, Patty, for 71 years until her passing in 2014. Ernie became a resident of the New Hampshire Veterans Home in January 2019 and died peacefully at the age of 98 with his family by his side.

He is survived by his four children and their (spouses): daughter, Michelle Gonzales (Rudy) and sons Eric (Frances), Roy (Anna) and Rand along with his granddaughter Erin Zielinski (Tom).

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 17, at 11:00 AM, at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. Military honors will follow.
