JEFFERSON- Eveleen Dorothy Sheridan, 90, died Saturday morning, November 21, 2009 at the Lafayette Center in Franconia after a brief illness.
Mrs. Sheridan was born in Jefferson on June 5, 1919 a daughter of Frederick Willoughby and Marjorie Izatt.
Dorothy married Philip Edward Sheridan on March 29, 1935 and had three children. She was a Nurse's Aide who fulfilled her dreams by pursuing a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, attending school at the Berlin Technical College during her 50's to earn her degree. She worked for the Jefferson and Lancaster nursing homes. She was always known for working 16 hours daily between her job and housework.
She spent the last 30 years of her life caring for her grandson Patrick Sheridan.
Family members include her children, Philip Sheridan Jr. and his wife Alma, Barbara Sheridan Boudle and her husband Ernest and Dennis Sheridan and his wife Dorothea, a sister Marion Dupont, 8 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Her husband Philip and her grandson Patrick predeceased her.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Monday morning November 30, at 11:00 AM at the Christ United Methodist Church in Lancaster. Reverend Ron Bruce, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held in the spring in the Forest Vale Cemetery, Jefferson.
