Evelyn Corrigan Bennett

Lancaster, NH- Evelyn Corrigan Bennett, 86, passed away on Thursday February 21, 2013 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, MA. She was born in Lancaster on March 12, 1926 a daughter to the late Arthur and Delia (Brooks) Corrigan.

Mrs. Bennett was a graduate of the Lancaster Academy. She worked as a secretary for the Farm Bureau, The Law Office of John Gormley, playing the piano and organ; she also bought and sold organs along with real estate. Following the death of her husband fifty years ago, Mrs. Bennett raised her three children as a single mother.

Mrs. Bennett was a great outdoor enthusiast who rode horses, skied and skated for many years. She will be remembered by the Red and White Tandem Bicycle that she and her daughter Sheryl rode around town. One of her major accomplishments was helping start a school in Lancaster for the mentally disabled.

Mrs. Bennett was pre deceased by her parents, her husband Willard Bennett, a sister Mary Smith, two brothers Hugh and Arthur Corrigan. She is survived by her children Sheryl Bennett of Worcester, MA, Larry Bennett of Groveton, Kathleen Scibelli of Shrewsbury, MA, a brother Leo Corrigan of Bluffton, SC, five grandchildren; Brooke, Benjamin and Curtis Scibelli, Jonathan and Scott Bennett, one great grandchild Carrington Bennett, many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday February 25 from 6 to 8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday February 26 at 11 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Lancaster with the Reverend Matthew Mason officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in Summer Street Cemetery in Lancaster.
