DALTON - Evelyn M. Bigelow, 92, of Dalton Road, died Sunday evening, June 9th, 2019, at the Country Village Genesis Eldercare Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Bigelow was born one of seven children in Peacham, VT, on December 1, 1926, the daughter of Ralph and Mildred (Morse) Rodger.
She was raised in Peacham later residing for a time in Ft. Myers, Fl. In 1960 she returned to north country and moved with her family to Dalton. She was a former nurses aid at the Jefferson Nursing Home and for many years worked at Manchester Knitted Fashions and Connors and Hoffman. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening.
Surviving family members include her children, Kenneth Flood and Helen of Virginia, Rose Szakmary and Franz of Twin Mountain, Kathy Leach of North Haverhill, Lillian Harriman and Dennis of Whitefield, Brenda Rosebrook and Patrick of Kentucky, Lois Flynn of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a brother Reginald Rodger and Shirley of Lancaster; a sister June Rodger of Portland, ME; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Robert P. Bigelow and a daughter Donna Sleep.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening, June 13, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A graveside service will be held Friday morning, June 14, at 11:00 AM in Cushman Cemetery, Dalton. Lawrence Pryor of Canaan, VT, will officiate.
