LANCASTER - Evelyn A. Marshall, 82, of Portland Street, died Tuesday morning, July 7, 2009, at Weeks Medical Center after a long illness.
Mrs. Marshall was born in North Conway, NH, on July 21, 1926, the daughter of Herbert and Anna Belle (Colbroth) Burke.
Evelyn was raised in North Conway and was a graduate of Kennett High School. She married Rodney Marshall of Lancaster and they lived several more years in North Conway before moving to Lancaster.
She was an outstanding homemaker who will be remembered by her family for her unending devotion. At times Evelyn also assisted her husband with work at his insurance business. When her health was good she enjoyed knitting, bowling and home dem. She was a woman of deep faith and loved nature. She enjoyed animal and bird watching and spending time at her camp in Maidstone. For many years she raised miniature horses.
Family members include her daughter Brenda M. Bray and her husband Edwin of Lancaster; a son-in-law Francis Sirois of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Todd Sirios, Crystal Bray, Annie Bray; a brother Rev. Herbert Burke of North Carolina; four sisters, Margaret Grant of Glen, NH, Opal Scaletti of Atlanta, GA, Kathy James of North Conway, and Janet Sanphy of Intervale, NH. She was predeceased by her husband Rodney in 1992; her daughter Ellen M. Sirois in 2005; two brothers, Stephen Burke, Gordon Burke; and two sisters, Geneva Adjutant and Anne Ruel.
At Evelyn's request there are no visiting hours and services will be at the convenience of the family.
