GILMAN - Florence E. "Tootie" Brown, 55, of River Road, died Sunday morning, May 1, 2011, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a battle with cancer.
Florence was born in Concord, VT, on February 28, 1956, the daughter of Fredrick and Alyce (Howland) Brown.
She was a longtime resident of Gilman and held various jobs in the North Country. At one time she was employed at the Four Dorrs Restaurant, Lancaster, for several years she was a certified nurses aid at Country Village Genesis Health Care Center, Lancaster, and was recently employed as an assisted living caregiver for Human Service of NH, Littleton.
Her interests in life included Nascar racing, watching sporting events, attending truck pulls and arts and crafts. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her family and her extended family, especially summer trips with her grandchildren.
Family members include two daughters, Cheryl LaPoint and husband Michael of Gilman, Karen Call and husband Rubin of Concord, VT; her husband of 34 years William Donaghy of Gilman; two grandchildren, Alyson Brown, Brandon Call; four brothers, William Brown and his wife Donna of Gilman, Everett Brown of Brattleboro, Douglas Brown and Kenneth Brown both of East Concord, VT; two sisters, Carol Lane and husband Dennis of Gilman, Mary Jean Brown of Lunenburg; her extended Donaghy family; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening, May 4, 2011 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Additional services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, S. Lunenburg.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Florence Brown Trust Fund, % Passumpsic Bank, Main Street, Lancaster, NH, 03584, for her grandchildren's college expenses.
