LANCASTER - Florence E. Coy, 73, died Sunday evening, August 29, 2010, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Coy was born in Lancaster on March 10, 1937, the daughter of Laverne and Nellie (Thompson) Thomas.
Florence was raised in the North Country and travelled for years. Eventually she returned to the area residing in Whitefield for many years and later Lancaster. She was a homemaker all her life who loved spending time with her family and going to her camp in Vermont.
Family members include four children, Cathy Walter, Eric Landry and Christopher Landry all of Dalton, Tara Landry Mallett of Lancaster; her companion, Edward Samson of Lancaster; a brother Bradley Thomas of Alaska; three sisters, Dorothy Stevens of Lancaster, Harriet Mooney and Dale Pond all of Alaska; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Charles A. Coy Jr. and a son Michael Pond of Alaska.
There are no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 3, at 11:00 AM at the Lunenburg Methodist Church. Reverend John Somers, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Cushman Cemetery, Dalton.
