Francis "Mickey" Allen Stapleton Iii

January 14, 1948 — January 10, 2022

LANCASTER - Francis Allen Stapleton III, or better known as "Mickey", died on January 10,2022. He was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on January 14, 1948. You may remember him as the man who drove a hearse with antlers on it around Colebrook, or perhaps he may have told you he was an FBI agent. Maybe he was "Monty" to you, or your brother in the Navy. Either way, you knew instantly who was calling out to you.

Mickey lived in the North Country for most of his adult life; he became friends with Gerrie Scott and was quickly invited to family gatherings. Over the years, Mickey became a fixture at birthdays, especially with his limousine, and holidays. Mickey spent countless hours gambling and teaching generations the art of poker. He wasn't in it for the money, as friendship was his true prize. He attended many poker tournaments and events with his pal, "Clement", and went on many road trips with Dean to the dog tracks and casinos. He was also a big fan of the series The Walking Dead.

He was always so grateful and appreciated the small things, like letters and notes, but he was never more appreciative than when he would receive his yearly turkey leg and apple pie on Thanksgiving, courtesy of Evie. Mickey was an intelligent, humorous, and kind man. He was always there to lend a hand and support others. There are many things still unknown about Mickey and his life, but one thing for certain is Mickey passed surrounded by the ones he loved, and those who call him, "family". He will be greatly missed.

A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, May14th, 2022 at 11:00AM in Center Cemetery, Stratford, NH. The US Navy and VFW honor guards will preside over services.
