Franklin H. Gray

JEFFERSON - Franklin H. Gray, 61, of Presidential Highway, died suddenly at his home Saturday, April 30, 2010.

Mr. Gray was born in Lancaster on July 23, 1949, the son of Dewey Alonzo and Mildred (Cass) Gray.

Frank was a lifelong resident of Jefferson. For a time he worked as a groundskeeper for the Spalding Inn, Whitefield. He has been an employee by the Town of Jefferson for many years. Initially he worked for the highway department and later was boss of the Jefferson transfer station.

He loved animals, children, flowers, gardening and collecting things. He was a loving and likable man who had many friends.

He is remembered as a wonderful brother by his two sisters, Roberta Gray of Jefferson, Barbara Sheep, and her husband Mathew, of Bloomington, Illinois, and his brother Michael Gray, and wife Catherine, of Jefferson. Other surviving family members include a special cousin, who he affectionately referred to as "my cousin", Joyce Dupont of Jefferson, and other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, William Gray, Wayne Gray, Murray Gray and Clayton Gray.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening, May 5, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A graveside service will be held Friday morning at 11:00 AM in the Kilkenny View Cemetery, Jefferson. Rev. Dean Stiles, pastor of the Jefferson Christian Church, will officiate.
