Fred A. Emerson

LANCASTER - Fred A. Emerson, 75 of Garland Road, Lancaster, passed away late Thursday evening on December 13, 2007, at Weeks Medical Center.

Mr. Emerson was born on January 10, 1932, in East Lancaster, son of the late Everett A. Emerson Sr. and Frances (Hall) Emerson. He was one of nine children. In 1952, he married his wife Myra E. (Manson) Emerson. They were married for 55 years and raised a family of five children.

He is survived by a sister Linda Fraser of Lancaster, NH, and a brother Jon Emerson, of North Stratford, NH. He was in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Personnel Director of Ampad Corporation.

His children, all living include, Holly H. Emerson of Puyallup, WA, Roxie A. Severance and husband John of Whitefield, Lorraine J. Emerson and husband Michael Dauphinais of Westminster, MA, Tammy R. Lazott and husband William of Lancaster, and Mark M. Emerson and wife Terri of Lancaster.

He was a very proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves behind: Christopher Severance and wife Deborah and daughters Kaitlyn, age 6, Jillian, age 3, of Derry, NH; Belinda King and her husband Stanley and daughter Rheya, Age 4, of Bedford, NH; Kurt Severance and wife Alysson and their children Claudia, age 3, and Jackson , age 1, of Maynard, MA; John Emerson, age 18, of Lancaster and Amber Emerson, age 17, of Lancaster.

Fred was well known as a community leader serving both his church and other community organizations. He was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster, organized and coordinated the annual Ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service in Lancaster for approximately 40 years, he led a lay ministry at Country Village Health Care Center for 38 years; Chairman of the Lancaster Planning Board, Past President of the Lancaster Historical Society, Treasurer of CEDC, and Past Lancaster Fair Director.

Calling hours will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday, December 15, at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A service of Christian burial will be Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM at the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster. Reverend Dr. Thomas Bentum, pastor, will officiate. Reverend Curtis W. Smith will co-officiate. Burial will follow in the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
