Frederick Austin

GILMAN - Frederick Austin, age 77, passed away Saturday December 2, 2017 at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet South Carolina after a long battle with cancer.
Fred was born on August 31st 1940 in Greenwich Village CT to Gleigh (Savage) Stoddard and Frederick Austin. He attended Littleton High School and received his technical degree at Manchester Community College. He then served in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic for five years. After serving his country he worked as an airline mechanic for the Hughes Airline, which is now known as Delta.
Returning back to his home area he worked with his mom at the Family Furniture business. During that time is when he met Susan (Fox) Dodge his lifetime partner of 30 years. He went on to work in construction, playing a part in the rebuilding of the Gilman Dam. After "retirement" Fred went to work at Walmart enjoying his co-workers Antics as well as his own.
Suzie and Fred decided to travel, enjoying Las Vegas several times and spending Winters in Myrtle Beach South Carolina where they enjoyed golfing, the beach, and No SNOW! You could always count on running into them at McDonald's were they spent many hours with their groups of friends. Fred loved to joke and kid, an all-around caring person. Interests included Alternative Energy; building a prototype with that in mind, working on the "Lot", cross-country skiing and karate. He also enjoyed following his nephew's children in their UFC Mixed Martial Arts.
Besides Suzie, survivors include: a daughter Missy Dixon and husband David, three step daughters; Joyce Watts and family; Linda Cunningham and family; Trish Supan and family, all of Washington State. Brother Brian Austin of Easley SC, sister Valerie Trahan of Jacksonville FL, and Aunt Louise Tabbut. Also surviving of Sue's family: sons: Herbert "Chuck" Dodge and Megan Brown of Twin Mountain, Roy "Scott" Dodge and Wendy Keir- Bradley of South Berwick ME, daughter LoraLee Dodge and Craig and Jake Davis of Franklin NH. Grandchildren; Justin, Aaron, Cody and Auvri Dixon, Sue's grandchildren; Heather Dodge, Corey Fallon and wife Angel, Haley (Dodge) Emard and husband Jacob Emard, Riley and wife Erica Dodge, and Brady Dodge, and Brianna and Gavin Bradley. Nephew's and niece's include; Patrick Trahan and family of Florida, Devon and wife Dawn Trahan and family of Vermont, Debbie (Austin) Amato and husband and family in Fremont California, Jeannie Austin of California, Christopher Austin and family of Rockland, CA and many nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers of Suzie's family. As well as great grandchildren.
