Frederick G. Mason

October 10, 1939 — February 1, 2014

DALTON - Frederick G. Mason, 74, born on October 10, 1939 passed peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, daughter Debbie and grandson Michael at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on February 1, 2014 after a brief illness.

Fred has been a life-long resident of the Whitefield, Dalton area.  He worked at Saunders Bros. sawmill in Dalton for 36 years.  After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening.  He was an avid Nascar fan.

His biggest joys in life were spending as much time as he would with his six grandchildren, his daughters and his wife of 32 years.

He also loved running his bait shop, Northwoods Bait in Dalton.  At his request his wife and grandson are running the bait shop in his honor and will keep it open for the entire 2014 season.

His parents William and Roberta Mason and his son Allan Bryant predeceased him.

Surviving family members include his wife Jessie Mason of Dalton; daughters Debra Mitton and her husband Kenneth of Dalton, Martha Mason of Dalton; 6 grandchildren, Daniel Gooden of Bethlehem, Michael Bryant of Dalton, Kenneth Mitton of Dalton, Jonathan Hughes of Colebrook, Brandon Mitton of Dalton, Khierstyn Bryant of Bethlehem; 1 great-granddaughter Lilly Rose Hughes of Colebrook; a sister Rowena Donohue and her husband Steve of Brockton, MA; and many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and many many friends.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday afternoon February 8, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster.  A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 6:00 PM.  Burial will be held May 16 at 11:30 AM in Cushman Cemetery, Dalton.
