GROVETON, NH- Frederick Ernest Phelps, 84, passed away Thursday morning, March 3, 2011, at the Morrison Nursing Home, Whitefield.
Mr. Phelps was born in Jefferson, NH on October 7, 1926, a son of Frederick and Hazel (Ingerson) Phelps.
Fred served in the US Navy. He worked for several years at Sargent's Manufacturing He enjoyed fishing and going to camp and especially loved his dogs Sarge and Diamond.
His memberships included, the Groveton Moose Club, Groveton American Legion Fredonwarell Post #17 and the John W. Weeks VFW Post #3041.
Family members include two sons, Donald Phelps and his wife Jeanette of Lancaster and David Phelps and his wife Margaret of CT, two grandchildren Michael and Shawn Phelps, two great grandchildren Samantha and Nicole Phelps, two sisters Beverly of CT and Shirley of Arizona and his dear friend Nancy West of Lancaster. He was predeceased his wife Harriet, two grandchildren Donald Wayne Phelps and Michelle Phelps and four siblings Celest, Mille, Pricilla and Odell.
Calling hours are private. A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, May 7

, at 1 PM in the Starr King Cemetery, Jefferson.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Northern New England Chapter, 114 Perimeter Road, Unit G&H, Nashua, NH 03063.
