WHITEFIELD - Gail V. Cormier, 81 of Colby Road, passed away peacefully, early Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at her home, following a prolonged illness.
Born January 19, 1941, in Whitefield, she was the daughter of Carl and Myrtle (Danforth) Rexford.
Gail married Eugene K. Cormier on June 19, 1959. Together they lived on the family farm, Colby Road, Whitefield raising their two children. Setting out on a new adventure, Gail and Gene owned and operated "Gene's Country Store" in Twin Mountain for six years. Gail also served as Town Clerk/Tax Collector for the Town of Carroll, before retirement from the New Hampshire DMV as supervisor of registrations at Troop F, New Hampshire State Police.
She was a fantastic cook and seamstress, who enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and gardening. Family camping trips, fishing excursions and snowmobiling were special time for her.
Gail leaves behind her beloved husband, best friend and caregiver of 61 years, Eugene.
A son Kevin Cormier and Julie, daughter Wanda Gooden and her husband Jamie, adopted children Fred and Florence: seven grandchildren, Michelle Tewksbury, Michael Ingerson, Alisha Ingerson, Ashley Rotheluber, Spencer Rotheluber, Kyle Cormier, Amanda Cormier, Joshua Gooden, and Travis Gooden, along with four greatgrandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by a brother Rodney Rexford and his wife, Nancy, three sisters-in-law, Phyllis Rexford, Eva Parker, Sharron Ruggles, Sharon Cormier, and June Cormier, three brothers-in-law Edgar Cormier, Paul Cormier, and William Jones, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers Wendell Rexford and Everett Rexford, a sister Evelyn Rexford, a sister-in-law Barbara Jones, and brothers-in-law, David Ruggles and Stanley Parker.
The family will conduct a graveside service on Friday, 17 September 2021 at the Park Street Cemetery in Whitefield at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow at the Whitefield American Legion.
