George Edwin Gray

April 25, 1917 — June 6, 2006

LUNENBURG- George Edwin Gray, 89, of Main Street, died Tuesday June 6, 2006, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.

Mr. Gray was born in East Hereford, Quebec, Canada, on April 25, 1917, the son of Samuel and Vera (Rowell) Gray.

George moved from Canada when he was a year old and was raised in Canaan, VT, Charlestown, NH and Lancaster. During WWII he served with the US Army in Panama. In 1953 he moved to Lunenburg and in 1957 he started Gray's Mobile, which he owned and operated for 29 years. After retirement he worked part time as a deliveryman for Sanels in Lancaster.

He was a member of the North Star Lodge #8 F&AM of Lancaster; American Legion Post #41of Gilman, John W. Weeks VFW Post # 3041of Lancaster; Eagles Club, Loyal Order of Moose of St. Johnsbury; Lunenburg Polar Bears and Gilman Senior Citizens.

Family members include his beloved companion, Helen Boulay of Lunenburg; a daughter, Patricia Bashaw of Charlestown, NH; a brother Stanley Gray of East Charlestown; a sister Hattie York of Northumberland, 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by, his wife Arlene (Cross) Gray; four siblings, Neil Gray, Herbert Gray, Rose Weymouth, and Christina Royce.

There are no visiting hours. A funeral service will be held Friday June 9 at 11:00 AM at the Lunenburg Methodist Church, Lunenburg. Reverend Henry Cheney, pastor, will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, S. Lunenburg.
