EAST CONCORD, VT- George R. Quimby, 72, died at his home on November 18, 2008.
Mr. Quimby was born in Colebrook, NH on May 25, 1936, the son of Leo and Bernice (Parker) Quimby.
George attended Stratford High School. He went on to serve in the U. S. Air force. In 1965 he moved to Connecticut, working for several years as a truck driver for Francini Construction. After retiring in 2003 he moved to East Concord.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting and being at home; he especially enjoyed company stopping by to visit.
He was a member of the Oxford, Connecticut American Legion.
Family members include his wife of 49 ½ Rosalie (Minkler) Quimby, two sons, Michael Quimby and Shawn Quimby both of Oxford, CT, a daughter Pamela Nitsche and her husband Robert of Shelton, CT. three grandchildren, Michael Quimby Jr. of Oxford, CT, Shawn Michael Nitsche and Mark Andrew Nitsche both of Shelton, CT. His son George "Butch" Quimby Jr. predeceased him in 1983.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
