Gerald "Jerry" A. Berry

LANCASTER - Gerald "Jerry" A. Berry, 47, of Mt. Prospect Road, died Friday August 3, at his home in the arms of his loving wife and son, after a long battle with cancer.

Mr. Berry was born in Rochester, NH on July 26, 1960, the son of Thomas A Berry Jr. and Monique (Daigle) Berry.

Raised in Rollinsford he attended schools in Somersworth and was a 1978 graduate of Somersworth High School. In 1980 he became a full time police officer with the Rollinsford Police Department and was also a volunteer fireman with the Rollinsford Fire Department. In 1985 he became a New Hampshire State Trooper and was assigned to Coos County. He spent many years on the Motorcycle Unit and was the present State Commander. He also became an active member of the Lancaster Fire Department and was presently assistant chief. He was also active with the Boy Scouts and was the present Scoutmaster for Troop 219.

Motorcycling was a big part of Jerry's life and he enjoyed spending time with his family. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his son hunting, fishing, and scuba diving.

Family members include his mother Monique of Rollinsford, NH, his wife Teresa H. (Malloy) Berry of Lancaster, his son Daniel G. Berry of Lancaster, a brother Paul Berry and his wife Marsha of New Durham, NH and a sister, Sandra McCleary and her husband Jim of Rollinsford, NH; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by, his father Thomas A. Berry Jr.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, August 7 afternoon and evening, from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM, at All Saints Church, Lancaster. Reverend Raymond Ball, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to The Sergeant Gerald Berry Benevolent Fund, to be placed in trust for his, son Daniel Berry and/or a scholarship fund for a Coos County student wishing to pursue a career in fire service, PO Box 440, Twin Mountain, NH 03595, C/O New Hampshire State Police Troop F.
