LANCASTER - After a lengthy battle with cancer Gerrie Scott, 63, of Williams Street, died Saturday afternoon, December 9th, 2017, at Country Village Genesis Care Center.
Born in Manchester on May 15th, 1954, she was the daughter of Richard and Nancy (Doolan) Hamilton. She was raised in Lancaster and Stratford and was a 1972 graduate of Stratford High School.
After graduation Gerrie made Lancaster her permanent residence. For a time she worked at Evans Market and later devoted 12 years at Sunnybrook Montessori. She was also the Director of the Safe Haven after school program for 22 years and a Lancaster School crossing guard for 3 years.
Gerrie's obvious love of children led her to become the locally well known clown "Jingles" for 13 years. Health complications took Gerrie's voice for a time but it did not slow her down. She then became "Mema the Mime" continuing to entertain the kids.
Surviving family members include her son Eric D. Scott and his daughters Sage and Zaida of Washington; aunts, Evie Wesson and husband Dean, Sylvia Doolan; uncles Brian "Dusty" Doolan and Emmanuel Brochu; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Arthur Scott Sr.; aunts, Jean Doolan, MaryAnn Walker, Judith Brochu; and uncles, William Doolan James Doolan and John Doolan.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Friday evening, December 15th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A memorial service will follow Saturday morning at 11:00 AM at the Lancaster Congregational United Church of Christ. Reverend Sharon van der Laan, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the spring in the Center Cemetery, North Stratford.

Gerrie has requested that if you insist on sending flowers only send 1 single rose that will go to the nursing home after services.
