MAIDSTONE - Geraldine F. McVetty, 86, died at her home early Friday morning, December 3, 2021, after a period of failing health.
The daughter of Herbert and Francis E. (Christie) Moore, Geraldine was born in Stratford, NH on April 26, 1935. She was a graduate of Stratford High School and later married Richard E. McVetty. They continued to reside for a time in Stratford, later moving to Guildhall and eventually Maidstone.
For a time, she worked in the business offices at Groveton Paper Company and for over 20 years was office administrator for the UVM Cooperative Extension in Guildhall. She was also the Treasurer for the Town of Maidstone and a Guildhall Library Trustee for many years.
Her memberships included the Willena Benton Chapter #96 Order of the Eastern Star and the Connecticut Valley Sno-Riders. Snowmachining and camping were some of her favorite activities.
Surviving family members include her two children, Valerie Foy and partner William Russ of Guildhall, Bradley McVetty and wife Cheryl of Maidstone; grandchildren, Jason McVetty and partner Olivia Frable, Lora Foy. Kristina Palazzolo and husband Mike and Michelle Petrin; great-grandchildren. Riley McVetty, Elaina and Amelia Petrin, Eric and Kenzie Palazzolo.; two brothers Thomas Gallant and his wife Sharon of Pensacola, FL, Richard Moore of Monson, MA; several nieces and nephews and many cousins. Predeceased relatives include her husband Richard; her parents Herbert and Francis; a brother Cyrus Gallant; and a great-grandson, Kris Palazzolo.
A memorial service will be held Saturday morning, December 11th at 11:00 AM, at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. Reverend Timothy Brooks, pastor of St. Paul's Church, Lancaster, will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Ridgwell Cemetery, Guildhall.
