LANCASTER- Gladys F. Crane, 88, of Main Street, died Friday morning, August 28, 2009, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.
Mrs. Crane was born on July 15, 1921, in Detroit, Michigan a daughter of Ralph and Huldah (Bigger) Crane.
Gladys was a longtime resident of Lancaster and for many years she and her late husband Robert W. Crane owned and operated the Crane Tourist Home. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing, painting and crafts and she loved to bake and cook.
She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Lancaster and the Eastern Stars.
Family members include a son Paul Crane and his wife Marilyn of Lancaster, a daughter Jill Schiffgens and her husband Joe of Londonderry, a brother David Crane and his wife Marilyn and a sister Margaret Hall all of Michigan, 8 grandchildren and their spouses, Denita Harris and her husband Peter of Manlius, NY, Robert Crane and his wife Kim of Lancaster, Paul Martin and his wife Robin of Danville, NH, Bruce Martin of Nokomis, FL, Candice Gross and her husband Benjamin of Jefferson, Michele Champy and her husband Fred of Manchester, Sophia Desautels and her husband Jeff of Windham, NH and Melissa Arna and her husband Paul of Lancaster, 13 great grandchildren, Margaret, Thomas and James Harris, Brooke and Hollie Crane, Caleb and Jaclyn Gross, Krystle and Ashley Champy, Chad and Nicole Desautels and Kaitlyn and Matthew Maccarone and many nieces and nephews. Her husband and a sister Alma predeceased her.
At Gladys' request there are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning, September 1, 2009, at 11:00 AM, at the Christ United Methodist Church in Lancaster. Burial will follow in the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
