LANCASTER - Gladys C. Stark, 93, died Sunday evening August 4, 2013 at Country Village Genesis Eldercare, Lancaster N.H.

Gladys, who was better known to all of her friends and family as "Robbie" was born in Groveton, NH on April 26, 1920, the daughter of Edmund Moses and Lucille (Valley) Cummings. Gladys and her family lived on a beautiful dairy farm on Reed Road where she and her sisters and brother learned how to milk cows, bake bread and cookies, grow and can vegetables, and fruits, and make delicious maple syrup. Gladys's favorite "chore" was to help her dad take care of their horses.

Gladys attended the elementary and high schools in Lancaster then she went on to college. She attended colleges in both Illinois and Boston to become an occupational therapist . Gladys worked in several Veteran's Administration Hospitals for forty years where she was able to help those people who served our country. Her area of expertise was wood working both at work and at home.

Gladys's first job as an occupational therapist was in Long Island, N.Y.

It was there that she met her husband, Michael Stark. They were married in 1946 and had a happy life together for 34 years. Gladys and Michael loved to travel, go out for dinner, and raise their two children. Later, they became enthusiastic golfers and were always seen on the golf course with their friends.

Family members include her son Richard J. Stark Sr. and his wife Marie of Holbrook, NY; her daughter Beverly Tremblay and husband Jerry of North Conway, NH, a sister Esther Greenwood of Dalton and several nieces and nephews. Gladys was very proud of her six grandchildren: Richard Jr.,Timothy, Annee, Michael, Matthew, and Marcie, as well as, of her six great grandchildren:

Serenity, Kayley, Melanie, Victoria, Lilly, and Diana. She was predeceased by her husband Michael Stark; three sisters, Olive Paine, Mildred Congdon, Elizabeth Meldrum and a brother Edmond Cummings.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday August 8 from 6-8 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday August 9 at 10 AM at All Saints Catholic Church in Lancaster with burial following in Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster.

In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001.
