Gladys Lena Waldruff, 85, of Groveton, NH, passed away on December 18, 2024,
after a brief stay at Country Village Nursing Home in Lancaster, NH.
Gladys was born on February 11, 1939, in Lake Luzerne, NY to Flora Stewart and
Harold Fowler. She was a graduate of Corinth High School class of 1956.
Our Mother was the iconic stay at home Mom, always present and the foundation
of our early years. She was never too busy to join us for a board game, cards,
bowling, sledding and ice skating. Many of her gifts were items she knitted or
crocheted. She made my sister clothes when they were very young and kept her
old Singer sewing machine working for many years. Her son remembers teaching
him to darn his own socks to save money. Gladys loved to decorate the house
and enjoyed wallpapering and painting, her summer flowers, vegetable garden
and keeping the lawn perfect, hosting holidays and cooking for friends and
relatives. Christmas was a favorite, wrapping the gifts for her children and
grandchildren and making sure that everyone had something. Mom always
believed in looking her best and had a wonderful smile; attributes she passed on
to her children. She took us to church in our early years and taught us about God
and let us decide the rest. I know she is looking down from above and smiling.
Gladys is survived by her three children: Deborah Woodman (Charles) of Lincoln,
NH, Mark Waldruff (James) of Hyannis, MA, Joanne Benoit (Raymond) of Groveton
NH and several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews. She is
also survived by her four siblings: Joyce Wright (Art) of Las Vegas, Barbara Loeffler
of Porters Corner’s NY, George Fowler (Gail) of Fort Edward, NY, James Fowler
(Beverly) of Porters Corners, NY.
A private burial will take place in the Spring. Gladys wished to be buried with her
parents in the Lake Luzerne, NY Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
