Gloria Mclaughlin

Gloria Catherine McLaughlin, 93 of Lancaster, NH passed away at the Morrison Nursing Home in Whitefield, NH on April 10, 2025 with family by her side. She was the daughter of Norman McLaughlin and Catherine (Powell) McLaughlin, born on October 5, 1931 in Lancaster, NH. She attended Lunenburg schools where she lived her childhood years. She graduated from Mt. Saint Mary Academy in Burlington, VT.

Soon after graduation she entered the Sisters of Mercy in Burlington. She was a sister for 25 years, teaching school at Cathedral School in Burlington and St. Monica’s Catholic School in Barre, VT. She later became food service director at the convent in Burlington and at Camp Marycrest in Grand Isle, VT.

Gloria also worked at the Lancaster Motel which her family owned. Family enjoyed her cooking skills, especially nieces and nephews who could hardly wait for her homemade bread to come out of the oven.

She was later hired as Food Service Director at Weeks Memorial Hospital, where she worked for many years until retirement.
Gloria lived most of her retirement years in Lunenburg where she cared for her aging mother who lived to be 100. She could often be seen walking in Lunenburg visiting her beloved St. Leos Catholic Church every day.

After a battle with cancer, she sold her home and moved to Lancaster, NH.

Surviving family members include one brother, Tom McLaughlin of Lancaster and three sisters, Mary Jane Colby and Monica Eastman of Lunenburg and Sally Beattie of Lancaster.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church in Littleton, NH on Apil 16 at 11am. Bailey Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
