Grayce B. Smith

LANCASTER - Grayce B. Smith, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at the age of 86 at Country Village Health Care Center following a period of declining health.
Born March 27, 1921, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Carl C. and Beatrice M. (Murphy) Bennett.
Grayce was a member of the Lancaster Academy graduating class of 1939 and the Concord College of Business of 1941. In July of 1948 she married Glenn "Babe" Smith of Lancaster, who predeceased her in 1997. She was also predeceased by a son, Richard B. smith in 1976.
She worked for many years as a bookkeeper and secretary and also assisted her husband with his bowling leagues and the daily operation of the Lancaster Bowling Alley. She will be remembered fondly for her hospitality and exceptional culinary skills.
She was a Communicant of All Saints Catholic Church, Lancaster.
Surviving family members include a cousin, Mrs. Shirley Bowles, of Nashua, NH, and several friends and neighbors.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 22, at 10:00 AM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral mass will be celebrated at All Saints Church, Lancaster at 11:30 AM following the visiting hours. Burial will follow in Summer Street Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Babe Smith Skating Rink Fund through the Lancaster National Bank or to the Lancaster Historical Society for the beautification of the grounds.
