GROVETON - Harold L. Savage, 75, of High Street, died Thursday morning August 31, 2006 at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, after a long illness.
Mr. Savage was born in Lancaster on April 14, 1931 the son of Ernest and Cynthia (Carr) Savage.
He was raised in Groveton and was a graduate of Groveton High School. During the Korean Conflict he served with the US Army. Returning home he resided many more years in Groveton and worked at the Paper Mill for 32 ½ years. After retiring from the mill he and his wife Shirley moved to West Stewartstown and he was employed for several years as custodian of the Stewartstown School. Seventeen years later they returned to Groveton. Harold loved ice fishing and was a car enthusiast.
He was a member of the
American Legion Post #17 in Groveton
Family members include his wife Shirley E. (Scott) Savage of Groveton; a son Keith H. Savage and his wife Debbie of Groveton; three grandchildren, Sarah, Amber, and Troy; a great-grandchild Riley; two brothers, Robert Savage of Ohio, Donald Savage of Franklin; two sisters, Jean Dubreuil and Carolyn Barney both of Lancaster; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Stephen J. Savage and two infant daughters, Mary and Jodi Lynn.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Saturday afternoon, September 2, from 2-4 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A brief service and time of remembrance will be held at the close of visiting hours. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the Northumberland Cemetery.
