Buster passed away on Friday, December 16, 2011 at Weeks Medical Center Hospital. He was born in Laconia, NH on April 17, 1932.
Buster was lucky enough to have been married to the love of his life, Mary, for 50 years. Buster enjoyed everything life had to give him. Not even losing his leg at the age of 69 could slow this avid outdoorsman down. Buster made a daily pilgrimage to Martin Meadow Pond. He knew more about the fish and the people than they themselves did. If a person wanted to know where the best time and place were to catch a fish, Buster was the man to see. Every winter Buster would make the trip to Pittsburg so he could go zipping around on his snow machine. What started out as a family trip when his sons were young turned into a one-man show as the years passed. Fortunately, Buster was never without a great group of friends to ride with. And if it wasn't an Arctic Cat, it wasn't worth riding. The Lancaster Fair won't be the same without Buster sitting in front of his camper watching the comings and goings of the fair goers. He would sit and talk to anyone who slowed down in front of his camper and tell them about fairs gone by. He had a memory like a steel trap when it came to the details of past events.
During the last decade of his life, his happiest moments were those spent with his grandchildren. Matthew, Alex, and Mattie brought no end of joy to him and he provided them with an endless supply of treats and love.
Buster was also a career Naval man. He proudly served his country in the Korean War. Buster retired from the United States Navy with the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
Buster is predeceased by his mother, Juliette (Camden) Clay and his father, Harriman Clay. He is survived by his wife Mary (Savage) Clay, sons Harriman Jr and Matthew, grandsons Matthew and Alexander, granddaughter Madeline, and sister Doris (Clay) Lapete. He is also survived by sons Harriman and Randolph and their children and grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Monday, December 19 at Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster, NH from 5-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to NH Fish & Game ATTN: Business Division, 11 Hazen Drive Concord, NH 03301
