LANCASTER- Harry A. Phillips, 80, died late Wednesday evening, May 20, 2009, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.

Mr. Phillips was born in Lancaster on September 11, 1928, a son of Franklin and Ruth (Green) Phillips.

Harry was a lifetime resident of Lancaster. He served with the US Navy. For many years he worked on his father's farm, he also was a truck driver for Cray Oil and worked as a custodian at White Mountain Regional High School. He enjoyed cutting and preparing firewood, farming with his nephews and going to the Historical Society.

He was a former member of the Grange.

Family members include his wife Beverly E. (Flynn) Phillips of Lancaster, his son Tim Phillips of Lancaster, nephews, Ken Phillips and Roger Phillips both of Lancaster and Kevin Brown of Vermont. His brother Donald Phillips, a sister Mary Eleanor Brown and aunts Mildred Scott and Barbara Chabbuck, predeceased him.

A memorial visiting hour will be held Wednesday morning, May 27, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A memorial service will follow immediately after at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Donald B. Williams, pastor at Mt. View Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
