Henry A. Hanson

WHITEFIELD - Henry A. Hanson, 88, of Highland Street, died Saturday morning January 10, 2008, at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.

Mr. Hanson was born in Concord, NH, on May 9, 1920, the son of Lawrence C. and Mary (Cawley) Hanson.

Raised in Concord he was a 1938 graduate of Concord High School.  He lived there most of his life having worked for the A&P Store in Concord, then 13 years at the Cote Sunbeam Bakery, Manchester, and 22 years for Sears in Manchester, retiring in 1982 as merchant manager.

Henry and his wife Virginia (Robbins) Hanson loved to travel and have visited every State except Alaska.  Upon Henry's retirement in 1982 they moved to Margate Florida.  They lived there until 1997 and due to Virginia's declining health move back to the area to be with family.  He and Virginia were married on March 27, 1939.  Henry also enjoyed playing bingo and cards.

Surviving family members include a daughter, Nancy H. Desrochers and her husband Bert of Maidstone Lake, Vermont; three grandchildren, Michael Desrochers and his wife Colleen of Newfields, NH, Mark Desrochers and his wife Sarah of Lancaster, Lori Shearer and her husband Doug of Lancaster; a niece, Robbin Grill and her husband Alan of Boscowen, NH; five great grandchildren, Brianna, Lindsey, Steven, Travis and Matthew. He was predeceased by his wife Virginia on March 18, 2005.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening, January 14, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster.  A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM following the visiting hours.  Burial will be at a later date in Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster.
