LUNENBURG - Howard L. Martin, 88, of South Lunenburg Road, died at his home Tuesday evening November 13, 2012.
Mr. Martin was born in Lancaster on August 15, 1924 the son of Warren and Fannie (Buzzell) Martin.
He was raised in Lancaster and was attending Lancaster High School when he left to serve in the US Navy during World War II. Returning home he completed his high school education and went on to graduate from the University of New Hampshire in 1953. Attaining a degree in engineering he was employed for a time with Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY and later American Optical in Southbridge, MA. Howard enjoyed his vegetable garden and was a member of the Lancaster Historical Society.
Family members include his wife Bernice (Hartlen) Martin of Lunenburg; a son, Michael Martin MD and his wife Eva of South Windsor, CT; four daughters, Ruth Wemple and husband Andrew of Southbridge, MA, Susan Doyle and husband Matthew of Northumberland, Terri Martin of Lunenburg, Lisa Lorange and husband Paul of Southbridge, MA; a daughter-in-law Keitha Martin of Hilton, NY; a brother Victor Martin of Mississippi; a sister Sylvia Curtis of Manchester; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A son Howard Martin predeceased him.
At Howards request there are no visiting hours. Family and close friends are invited to graveside service on Friday, November 23 at 1 PM in Riverside Cemetery in Lunenburg.
