LANCASTER, NH- Howard Ross Montanye, 66, of Chelle Road, passed away unexpectedly on, August 2, 2008, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon with his family by his side.

Mr. Montanye was born in Cornwall, New York, on November 15, 1941, the son of Howard and Ida (Cutler) Montanye.

Howard served in the United States Marine Corp and had three tours of duty in Vietnam. He continued his service with the National Guard, with 40 forty years of service for his country.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family.

Family members include his wife of 38 years, Sylvia Bennett Montanye of Lancaster two sons, David Montanye and his wife Sandy of Eaton, NY and Eric Breault of Raleigh, NC a daughter Bonnie Bennett and her husband Todd Adams of Bethlehem, and grandchildren James Smith of Lancaster, Desiree Gray and husband Matt of Fort Bragg, NC, Adam Smith of Lancaster, Erica Smith of Lancaster and Nessa Reish and husband Shayne and their son Ivan of Berlin, three sisters Rebecca Hankey and her husband Richard of California, Kathy Shipman and her husband Bernie and Doddie Brooks and her husband Larry all of West Windfield, NY a brother in-law James Bennett and his wife Janet of Groveton, and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, August 4 from 4-6 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM at the funeral home. Reverend Raymond Ball, pastor, at All Saints Church, will officiate. Burial with military honors will be held at a later date in Center Cemetery, Stratford.
