Hugh Alan Simonds

LANCASTER- Hugh A. Simonds, 83, of Grove Street, died Wednesday afternoon December 6, 2006, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster.

Mr. Simonds was born in Saint Johnsbury, VT, on January 23, 1923, the son of James B. and Susan (Hilliard) Simonds.

Hugh was raised in Dalton and was a graduate of Lancaster Academy. He worked as a machinist, in Bath, ME, Springfield, VT and the Gilman Paper Company.

He was members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.Other memberships include the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #2629, Bethlehem, N.A.R.F.E. White Mountain Chapter #1776, Twin Mountain, VFW, American Legion, and was a big supporter of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Family members include a son, Hugh Andrews of Mooresville, NC, a granddaughter Stephanie, six stepsons, Leo LaFlamme, Edward LaFlamme, Paul LaFlamme, all of Springfield, VT, William Mclain of Charlestown, Raymond Fernandez of Woodbridge, VA, Irving Fernandez, two stepdaughters, Ida Sofrankp and Deloris Fernandez both of Holiday, FL, and 13 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by, his wife Anna Martha (Kukla) Simonds and several brothers and a sister.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday evening, December 9, from 6-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home in Lancaster. A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM at St. Paul's Church, Lancaster. Reverend David Rose, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be held in the spring, at Johns River Cemetery, Dalton.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 113 Main Street, Lancaster, NH 03584 or the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 798 Main Street, Bethlehem, NH 03574.
