WHITEFIELD - Irene R. Stevens, 80, of Highland House, died Thursday morning August 7, 2008, at the Morrison Nursing Home, Whitefield.
Mrs. Stevens was born in Westfield, Massachusetts, on April 11, 1928, the daughter of Franciszek and Mary (Chandorska) Osowski.
Irene was raised in Massachusetts moving to the North Country in the mid 60's. She had several jobs over the years include baking and pastry work at the Mt. View Hotel and the Spalding Inn both in Whitefield. She was also employed as housekeeper for the Jefferson Nursing Home and Country Village Health Care, Lancaster. Irene loved her grandchildren and her cats.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Family members include three stepdaughters, Cathy Dubreuil and husband Tom of
Guildhall, Cynthia White and husband Rodney of Dalton, Cherie Ramsdell and husband Scott of Dalton; two step-sons, Edward R. Stevens Jr. of Dalton, Scott Stevens and wife Christine of Dalton; a sister Frances Rondinone of Chicopee Falls, MA; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Her husband Edward R. Stevens Sr. along with three brothers and one sister predeceased her.
There are no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held Thursday morning August 14, at 10:00 AM in Forest Vale Cemetery, Jefferson. Rev. Lou Going, pastor of the Advent Christian Church, Whitefield, will officiate.
