James S. Cliche

January 8, 1934 — June 5, 2016

LANCASTER - On June 5, 2016 the Lord took James S. Cliche from us.  Jimmy, as everyone called him, was born on January 8, 1934, in Whitefield, NH to William J. and Hazel E. (Baldic) Cliche.



He attended the Whitefield School system and graduated in 1952.  He worked for his father at the Mt. View Hotel, who was supervisor of painting and papering. In 1962 his father retired and Jimmy took over his position.  In 1973 he left his job at the Mt. View and started his own business in the area doing painting, papering drywall and some carpentry.



In 1959 Jimmy married Priscilla A. Buteau in Lancaster .  They lived in Lancaster and raised four children. Jimmy enjoyed being with his family, taking them on vacations in the summer.  He liked golfing, hunting, fishing, bowling and traveling.



He leaves behind his four children, Bryan J. and his wife Judy, of MN, Bruce J. and  April of FL, Kathryn A.C. and husband Peter Landry of Nottingham and Andrew M. and his wife Margo of Lancaster, eight grandchildren,Daniel, Douglas, Daryll, Kyle, Mary, Hannah, Sabrina and Zachary, and four great grandchildren, Alyson, Kaiden, Everly and Tyler. Additionally he leaves behind his brother William J. and wife Trudy of FL, a sister Virginia of VT and a brother Valmore and wife Sue of Northumberland along with two godchildren, Diane LaDuke of Lancaster and Roger Daigle of Jefferson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.



He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, one sister and a brother-in-law, a grandson Mason and a granddaughter Olivia.



Jimmy was a Roman Catholic and attended the Gate of Heaven parish at All Saints Church in Lancaster.  He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, both 3rd and 4th degree joining them in 1962.  He was both Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator, Financial Secretary and bingo chairman of the Lancaster Council.  He later joined the Council in Groveton.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Monday June 13, 2016 at All Saints Church in Lancaster, followed by burial in St. Matthew's Cemetery in Whitefield.  A luncheon will follow at the church hall.
