LUNENBURG – James B. Lazott, 86, died at his home on West Lunenburg Road, Friday, May 26, 2023, from an aggressive recurrence of cancer with his close family by his side.
Mr. Lazott was born in Manchester, NH, on March 2, 1937, the son of Carl Lazott and Marguerite “Maude” (Foster) Lazott.
Right out of high school he served with the US Navy on icebreaker ships and travelled extensively in the Arctic and Antarctica. He acquired an associate degree in electronics and had a long career as a process engineer. He worked for many companies including Sprag Electric.
Jim was passionate about hunting and was an avid hunter and sportsman. He enjoyed big game animal hunting and bird hunting with his dogs, Girly 1 and Girly 2. He was a 4th lifetime member of the NH Wildlife Federation and member of the Pointer Fish and Game Club. He taught hunter safety for several years and was a rifle marksman having won several competitions. He particularly enjoyed his hunting trips with friends and his wife Hilda.
Surviving family members include his wife Hilda (Austin) Lazott of Lunenburg; his children, James Lazott of Lyndeborough, NH, Annette Bracy and husband Ronny of Lanexa, VA, Edward Dean of Prospect, VA, Claudette Martin and husband Edward of Littleton, NH, Brian Dean and wife Traci of St. Johnsbury, VT, Gregory Dean and wife Holly of Mechanicsville, VA, Jeremy Dean and wife Kacey of Waterford, VT, Megan Kathan and husband Mitchell of Lunenburg, VT; a brother Raymond Lazott of Manchester, NH; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son John Lazott, and siblings, Dorothy Belanger, June McKue, Margie Bournival, Richard Lazott, and Robert Lazott.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 23, at 1:30 PM at his home at 1751 W. Lunenburg Road, Lunenburg. Military honors will be conducted by the Navy honor guard at 2:00 PM.
